Jimmy Kimmel: Cold Pressed Juice or Liquid Skittles?

Jimmy Kimmel takes on the expensive  cold-pressed juice craze, by inviting consumers to taste some pure ‘juices’ which are really mixtures of Skittles, Tang and Creamsicles. Surely they will detect the sugary ingredients – won’t they?  The sugary glop can’t possibly taste like the fresh, pure juice that is said to ‘reset your  body’ for a mere $8. per bottle.

The segment is titled “The Emperor’s New Juice” for a very good reason. The scene is a farmer’s market in LA where trends are often born. I recently saw an ad for an LA restaurant, which is hosting a ‘water tasting’ class, based on wine tasting seminars. You get the picture. Jimmy has previously taken on the gluten-free and GMO phenomenons, but his efforts to see whether consumers can spot a true $8.00 juice when compared to a sugar-laden mixture are hilarious.

Testers are first given a drink called “SOUL” – in truth, a mixture of ‘Fun Dip’and water, which people drink with delight. One taste tester declares it to be “Like a deep breath.” Raving on, “Something that’s good for you, not too sugary”
“CURE” – a mixture of Tang and water is met with similar praise.
“DETOX” is ‘delicious’ and ‘natural – which is really saying something for blended creamsicles and water!
Finally “RAINBOW” receives rave reviews as well, and there is no doubt that it too, is ‘completely natural’ and “worth any price – for your health!”  If only they knew how easy it is to make. There is no tedious squeezing of fruit to be done. Just pour some Skittles and water into your blender, and it’s a rainbow!
